Cats, in general, are curious and nervous creatures, and are often stressed by sudden changes.

They like to keep the situation under control and are extremely territorial.

When displaced, they may escape and get lost in the new environment while trying to return home.

To make the journey less traumatic, it is (arguably) advisable to go to the vet for a sedative, which carries its own risks.

It is not recommended to leave your cat alone at home for more than one day.

Habits are everything to our pets. Noting our absence, the kitten may be anxious and more naughty than usual. Some will stop using the litter if it is dirty, spill their water, lock themselves in a closet, or they could get hooked with the collar ...

In my experience, some cats, under the right conditions, can be left alone for up to 2 days without a problem:

• When they are more than one and independent, they stay entertained and notice less the absence of their human.

• Multiplying the water sources and litters (they have to get used to them beforehand)

• Using automatic food dispenser (programmed to their habits), plus accessible food plate in case the dispenser jams

• Taking the necklaces off! (they shouldn't have one, to begin with)

• Putting security locks on the doors of the cabinets and drawers

• Close all windows or use metal netting (tilt windows can be very dangerous, even with netting)

• Leaving by paw all their favorite toys, but beware of strings with an object at the end, in which they can get entangled and trapped (I've seen it and it is scary...)

• There are a multitude of gadgets (dispensers with recorded voice, remote laser game with camera, camera/microphone, program to turn on and off the TV according to schedules) that can entertain your cat at home, but can never be compared with the visit of a trusted human (who will also cleans the litter ㋛).
